Cappuccino Crinkles

Chocolate and coffee, two flavors that were meant to be together, join up in this simple to make cookie.

1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
4 teaspoons instant coffee granules
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Coarse grain sugar or sugar


Heat oven to 350ºF.

Place butter into bowl; beat at medium speed 30 seconds. Add brown sugar, cocoa, coffee granules, baking soda and cinnamon. Continue beating, scraping bowl occasionally, until well mixed. Add yogurt and egg whites; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour; beat at low speed until well mixed.

Place coarse grain sugar into bowl.

Shape teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar to coat. Place balls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm. Remove cookies to cooling rack; cool completely.

Recipe Tip

Dough can be chilled until firm, if too soft to shape into balls, if desired.

I LOVE the cinnamon and chocolate combo. I've actually been adding cinnamon to most of my chocolate cookies for years. This is a very nice recipe.
This just doesn't work. The combination of cinnamon and chocolate isn't good. Why isn't espresso used in this recipe? If a cookie is called "Cappuccino Crinkles" there should be espresso involved. Will not make again.

Instead of instant coffee granules you could use instant espresso powder. But, you will need to bvary the amount you use because the instant espresso powder is stronger than the coffee granules.But, I must say we have not tested the recipe using instant espresso powder at this time. Also, sometimes cinnamon is part of a cappuccino but if you do not care for that flavor it would be fine to leave out of the recipe and it should be just fine.

This was no winner. Cinnamon just doesn't work here. Awful.
This was a light, easy cookie to make. Not overly sweet, but just enough sweetness to make it a wonderful cookie to have along with a cup of coffee or tea. I highly recommend this recipe!
