Mediterranean Pita Nachos

This fun twist on nachos uses pita chips and the best flavors of the Mediterranean.

Cheese Sauce

1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper


1 (8-ounce) package pita chips


1/2 cup cooked crumbled hot Italian sausage
1/4 cup sliced banana peppers
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/4 cup sliced Kalamata olives
1 small (1/2 cup) tomato, seeded, chopped
1 tablespoon capers, rinsed


Combine cheese, milk and red pepper in saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth.

Arrange pita chips in single layer onto serving platter. Top with cheese sauce and toppings. Serve immediately.

I made this for everyone during a football game to hold them over for dinner , it didn't last long and no one had room for dinner. I will make this again before I think about going out and buying nachos. Very easy to make except for the Italian cheese blend hard to work with, I will try a different cheese next time
