Top-Your-Own Hot Dogs

Try these all-American hot dogs with an assortment of tasty toppings.

Ingredients

Vegetable Relish

1/4 cup (1x1/4-inch strips) green bell pepper
1/4 cup (1x1/4-inch strips) red bell pepper
1 small (1/2 cup) onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic

Barbecue Sauce

1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Dilled Mustard

1/3 cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill*

Hot Dogs & Condiments

6 skin-on hot dogs, bratwurst or sausages
6 hot dog or bratwurst buns
Ketchup, if desired
Mustard, if desired
Shredded Cheddar cheese, if desired
Chili without beans, heated, if desired
Sweet pickle relish, if desired

Directions

Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

Vegetable Relish
Place all vegetable relish ingredients in center of 9-inch square heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bring edges of foil up to center; tightly seal top and sides. Place bundle onto grill. Grill 5-10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Set aside.

Barbecue Sauce
Combine all barbecue sauce ingredients in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 3-4 minutes or until sauce just comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Set aside.

Dilled Mustard
Combine all dilled mustard ingredients in bowl; mix well. Set aside.


Grill hot dogs 4-8 minutes or until heated through. Place hot dogs into buns; serve with vegetable relish, barbecue sauce, dilled mustard and/or condiments.



*Substitute 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed.
