1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Combine all sauce ingredients in 2-quart nonstick saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until butter and chips are melted and sauce is smooth. Remove from heat.

Stir in flavor variation from below, if desired.

Pour into jars or other airtight containers for gift giving. Store refrigerated. Reheat as needed.

Malt: Stir in 3 tablespoons malt powder.

Orange: Stir in 2 tablespoons orange liqueur or 1 teaspoon orange extract.

Pumpkin Spice: Stir in 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice.

Raspberry Jalapeño: Stir in 3 tablespoons seedless raspberry jam and 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh jalapeño pepper.

Recipe Tip

- To create different flavors, divide basic fudge sauce into two bowls. Stir in half of desired flavor variation ingredients into each bowl.

- Pour this rich fudge sauce over ice cream, use as a filling in cake or as a fondue by spearing your favorite dippers, such as strawberries, bananas or angel food cake pieces and dipping them into warm hot fudge sauce.

- Stir 1 tablespoon of any tasty fudge sauce variation into your coffee.

- Create the ultimate hot chocolate, by stirring in 4 tablespoons of fudge sauce into cup of warm milk.

Hi Kelbel, we would say that you could keep this covered in the refrigerator for 2-4 weeks.

I made this recipe to give as Christmas gifts. It was really easy. I used 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips because that's what I had left in the bag. It made 3 pint size jars. I also added 1/2 tsp. of vanilla.
