Toll House Famous Fudge

An all-time favorite, creamy chocolate fudge candy, can be varied easily by selecting different flavored morsels.

1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk (We recommend NESTLÈ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk)
2 tablespoons LAND O LAKES® Butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet real chocolate chips (We recommend NESTLÈ® TOLL HOUSE® Morsels)
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, if desired
1 teaspoon vanilla


Line 8-inch square baking pan with foil. Set aside.

Combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter and salt in medium heavy-duty saucepan. Bring to a full boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue boiling, stirring constantly (4 to 5 minutes). Remove from heat.

Stir in marshmallows, chips, nuts and vanilla. Beat by hand until marshmallows are melted. Pour into prepared pan. Cover; refrigerate until firm (2 hours). Remove foil; cut into pieces.

Milk Chocolate Fudge: Prepare mixture as directed above. Substitute 1 (11.5-ounce) package (1 3/4 cups) NESTLÈ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels.

Butterscotch Fudge: Prepare mixture as directed above. Substitute 1 (11-ounce) package (1 2/3 cups) NESTLÈ® TOLL HOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels.

Mint Chocolate Fudge: Prepare mixture as directed above. Substitute 1 (10-ounce) package (1 1/2 cups) NESTLÈ® TOLL HOUSE® Mint Chocolate Morsels.

The best fudge I've ever made, hands down! I used the milk chocolate chips as suggested in the variation. Rich, creamy - delicious!!
The taste is very good; would recommend this recipe. I can't figure out why my fudge is setting really fast. It didn't take 2 hours to set; took about 30 mins or less. Is that ok?
I've made this recipe so many times, I cannot remember them! This recipe turns out to be perfect, every time. When people go away and ask me if they can bring me the "best fudge you've ever tasted" , I thank them and so no, I make the best fudge. Thanks LOL. Donna
I made this recipe several years ago and continue to make it over and over again upon requests by all who have tasted it. It's easy, smooth and delicious. I have substituted chocolate chips for butterscotch or white chocolate for a nice variety. You'll be very pleased witht his one.
