The line-up of tart cherries, peanut butter and chocolate make these cookies a family pleaser.
Heat oven to 375°F. Combine sugar, butter, brown sugar and peanut butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add oats, flour, baking powder and soda. Beat at low speed until well mixed. Stir in cherries.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 9-11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Let stand 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.
Melt chocolate chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies.

This recipe is one of my favourites!! The second time I baked it, I replaced the cherries for 1/2 cup walnuts and 1/2 cup chocolate chips... simply delicious! And I agree with Jen, these cookies are the best raw cookie dough I've ever eaten!!!Silvia
This is very good. Will make many more times. I want to try and substitute blueberries for the cherries and I'm also going to make some with milk chocolate chips. I did use chuncky peanut butter because that is all I had and it was great. I like nuts in my cookies anyways.
I agree these are tasty but too much time and work....mostly trying to cut the cherries into tiny pieces and I personally didn't like the oatmeal with this combination of peanut butter & cherries. Just my opinion - the chocolate drizzled on top is a nice taste-touch. Just not a favorite of mine......sorry.
This is one of the most delicious cookies I've ever tasted. Easy prep and looks just like the photo. A keeper for sure!
First of all, this is, hands down, the best raw cookie dough I've ever eaten! They're still baking in the oven but I've no doubt they'll be just as good cooked as they were raw. I don't think I'll need that chocolate drizzle, I may or may not do it, maybe just on a few. Also, I had some steel cut and Scottish oatmeal as well as some quick cook and using a bit of all 3 really added texture to these cookies so don't be afraid to use other than the quick cooking or old fashioned oatmeal! I also used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 ap flour. Ok, timer just went off...tasting..wow. If you like peanut butter and/or oatmeal cookies, this is a must for you!! The dried cherries just add a little zing and I like them. Fantastic! No chocolate drizzle needed! This will be a great energy booster cookie for an afternoon snack!
