These old-fashioned crumb crust bars are comfort food at its finest.

3/4 cup evaporated milk (We recommend NESTLE® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk)
1 (8-ounce) package chopped dates
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Heat oven to 400°F. Combine evaporated milk, dates, sugar and vanilla in medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened (8 to 10 minutes). Remove from heat.

Beat brown sugar and butter on medium speed in large mixer bowl until creamy (1 to 2 minutes). Reduce speed to low. Add flour, oats, salt, baking soda and cinnamon.

Press half of crust mixture onto bottom of greased 8-inch square baking dish with floured fingers. Spread date filling over crust. Top with remaining crust mixture.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.
