Banana bars topped with a buttery frosting and crunchy pecans make a satisfying sweet treat.
Heat oven to 375°F. Grease 15x10x1-inch baking pan; set aside.
Combine sugar, 3/4 cup butter, brown sugar, sour cream and eggs in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add bananas and vanilla. Continue beating until well mixed. Add all remaining bar ingredients; beat at low speed until well mixed.
Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 17-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
Melt 1/4 cup butter in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly and watching closely, 5-6 minutes or until butter just starts to turn golden. (Butter will get foamy and bubble.) Remove from heat. Cool completely.
Combine browned butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese and vanilla in bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth. Frost cooled bars. Sprinkle with pecans.

I have made these several times to rave reviews. I have substituted buttermilk for the sour cream with excellent results. A keeper and a crowd pleaser!
These are delicious! A nice change from the usual banana bread, and quick to make.I added a dash of allspice and cinnamon.I would've been happy with a typical cream cheese frosting, though the one used here is very good. The bars taste even better the next day.
Everything about this recipe is delicious and uncomplicated. The only change I would make is a double batch of frosting. Otherwise, they are moist and so full of flavor.
I have made this recipe countless times. It's a great dessert that feeds a lot of people. I double the frosting ingredients except pecans and omit the pecans when bringing the Bars to an event that may have individuals who are 'nut allergic.' I've been grating 'just a smidgen' of whole nutmeg to the batter lately and it's really nice!
These banana bars are excellent! They are so easy to make and everyone loves them. They taste much better than banana bread, and toasting the pecans gives them amazing flavour. It makes a huge pan of bars and the frosting is sooooo good!Highly recommended!!!
i make these all the time there so good..
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO USE UP YOUR RIPE BANANA'S. THIS IS SOOOOOO GOOD.

Once the temperature drops a few degrees, I’m in full-on fall foods mode. Pumpkin bars, apple crisp, cranberry bread…you name it, I’m making it. However, most of it revolves around sweets. Why doesn’t dinner get a fair chance?
