Double Onion Hamburgers

Homemade hamburger recipe topped with a special onion mixture and Land O Lakes® American Cheese for a tangy tasting cheeseburger recipe.

Ingredients

Topping

1 large red onion, sliced, separated into rings
1 large white or yellow onion, sliced, separated into rings
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Burgers

1 pound lean ground beef
4 hamburger buns

Directions

Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

Meanwhile, combine all topping ingredients in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until onions are softened (8 to 10 minutes). Remove from heat. Keep warm.

Shape ground beef into 4 (4-inch) patties. Place patties onto grill. Grill, turning once, until internal temperture reaches at least 160°F. or until meat is no longer pink in center (15 to 18 minutes).

To serve, place burgers onto bottom half of buns; top each with 2 slices cheese, 1 tablespoon onion topping mixture and top half of bun.

Delicious!
The only exception is that I ground my own chuck so I can cook the burger to my preference of doneness, (medium rare) without worry. Oh, and of course I grill the buns
