Maple Snail Cookies

This cookie recipe will remind you of spring with their delicate maple flavor.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1/3 cup maple-flavored pancake syrup
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons real semi-sweet chocolate chips (We recommend NESTLE® TOLL HOUSE® Morsels)

Directions

Heat oven to 350°F. Combine sugar and butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add syrup; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour and salt. Beat until well mixed.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls using floured hands. Roll each ball into 10-inch rope. Shape into pinwheel shape leaving one end uncurled to resemble head of snail. Place snails 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned.

Microwave chocolate chips in small microwave-safe bowl on HIGH, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth (60 to 90 seconds). Use point of toothpick dipped in melted chocolate to make eye on each snail.

They were good, but I think they could have had more maple flavor.

This cookie is fantastic for those people who like the taste of maple and a hint of sweetness in their mouth. The cookie's texture was soft and warm when eatten freash. But if they're left in the oven too long they tend to harden extra on the bottom, possibly because of the maple syrup.
