Classic Chili Bowl

This classic chili uses ground turkey and has an interesting blend of herbs and spices.

Ingredients

Chili

tablespoon LAND O LAKES® Butter
pound lean ground turkey
1 large (1 cup) onion, chopped
1 small (1/2 cup) green bell pepper, chopped
1 rib (1/2 cup) celery, chopped
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans, undrained
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

Topping

6 (3/4-ounce) slices LAND O LAKES® Deli American Cheese, cut in half diagonally

Directions

Melt butter in 5-quart saucepan until sizzling; add ground turkey, onions, green pepper, celery and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until meat is browned (10 to 12 minutes). Drain off fat.

Stir in all remaining ingredients except cheese. Continue cooking until mixture comes to a full boil (5 to 8 minutes). Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until flavors are blended (30 to 40 minutes). Top each serving with cheese triangles.

This chilli is awesome. I made it for the Superbowl. I will definitely make this again. We loved it.

The 2nd. time I made this I used less cumin and added a can of black beans and corn. This has become my favorite chili recipe.

This was absolutely delicious! I added extra onions and green peppers to get in some extra veggies. I also put in a small can of tomato paste to thicken it and used crushed tomatoes instead of diced taking advice from some of the other reviews. Topped it off with extra sharp cheddar and chives. Yummy!

GREAT RECIPE !! Hit with guests for a Big Game. I changed recipe a little...use one can diced tomato & one can stewed tomato (italian style) plus use 8oz tomato paste instead tomato sauce for thicker chili.

I tried this recipe for an everyday meal. I did use 2 lbs hamburger instead of 1 1/2, more onion, and added red bell peppers in addition to the green. I have been looking for a chili recipe like my mother made and this is exactly what I have been looking for; it was excellent. The next time I make it I am going to use crushed tomatoes instead of diced and use more kidney beans if I use more hamburger than the recipe calls for.

This is amazing. I only used a pound of ground beef in this recipe and felt it was plenty. So good and hearty!
