Chunky Hawaiian Beef

This sweet-and-sour-flavored barbecue beef makes the perfect family dinner for busy weeknights.

1 1/2 pounds boneless beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
1 (20-ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup fat free Italian salad dressing
2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
3 cups hot cooked rice


Melt butter in 12-inch skillet until sizzling; add beef pieces. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 2-3 minutes or until beef is browned. Remove from skillet. Place beef in slow cooker. Top with pineapple and bell pepper.

Pour barbecue sauce and salad dressing over mixture in slow cooker; sprinkle with oregano. Cover; cook on Low heat setting 5-7 hours, or on High heat setting 3-4 hours or until meat is tender.

To serve, spoon beef mixture over hot cooked rice.

Recipe Tip

- If you’re not sure about the size of your slow cooker, measure it before you start the recipe. Simply use a measuring cup to determine the amount of water your slow cooker will hold. Then divide the number of cups that your cooker holds by 4 to determine the quart volume.

- To make this recipe for 12 servings, double all the ingredients. Place ingredients in 5-quart slow cooker and cook as directed above.

This is so easy and delicious. Followed directions for cooking rice but I added the drained pineapple juice (app. 1 C), 1/4 C soy sauce and cut green onions, then added water to make proper amount for cooking. Have also added sliced onion and carrots. A regular go-to dish.
This recipe is great. I have substituted chicken for the beef and added broccoli and it still turned out great. You can't go wrong with this recipe, I'm glad I found it again.
My mother makes this at least once a month and its definitely a family favorite. The only downside is having to smell the delicious smell for hours before its ready! She also adds some onions in for more flavoring. It's amazing!
The recipe was generally good, but I added a red pepper for coloring and an onion as my family likes onions. But will serve this again. Thanks for sharing.
