Fun recipes for kids don't get any cuter than this! Kids will love these fun to make and fill baskets.
Butter 12 muffin pan cups; set aside.
Combine marshmallows and butter in 3-quart saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 6-8 minutes or until mixture is melted. Stir in noodles until very well coated.
Press mixture evenly onto bottom and up sides of prepared muffin pan cups with buttered fingers. Immediately press licorice ends into each basket to form handle, if desired. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or until firm.
Remove baskets from muffin pan cups. Decorate baskets with melted candy coating, decorator sugars and/or coconut as desired; fill with candy. Store in container with tight-fitting lid for up to 2 days.

I've made this recipe and have found that using "Rice Chow Mein Noodles" crushed up are so much easier to work with. They are like the chow mein noodle but much thinner and easier to press into the muffin tins
We didn't use the marshmallow or butter at all and used more of the almond bark. It worked well. Also, we used Fiber One cereal which already looks kind of "twiggy" and a nice way to sneak some fiber in!
LOVE THESE! Made them with my four-year old daughter to take to her daycare for Easter/Earth Day. We skipped the handle and made the birds nests. Sooo cute! The mixture is a little messy to work with, but that's part of the fun, right? I've made something similar in past with rice crisped cereal, but the noodles really make these look like rustic woven baskets or birds nests, so we're sticking with this recipe next year (pardon the pun)!
This is the best invention EVER!!! I started making them about 4 yrs ago for a few people now I have requests as many as 50!!! They are just so cute and the whole thing can be eaten! I just make the ones with the coconut grass and put in pastel m&m's or jelly beans then each in their own individual bags. BIG HIT!!!!
Found these very easy to make with just decorating the rim with white chocolate and then sprinkles. I do think adding handles would be more difficult and not sure if they would stay.
Instead of chow mein noodles, we used pretzel sticks. Excellent flavor and crunch. Baskets were sticky, but fun.
Recipe was fairly easy. Used large muffin tins in order to fit more candies. They were a big hit on the Easter Table.
We made these cute little spring baskets for Easter and they were a BIG hit. Everyone loved them. They were a little hard to make. I guess I should have broken up the noodles first. They were hard to mold in the muffin tins. The licorice handles didn't stand up. I even cut them down but the kept falling over. I kept them in the refridgerator until we served them. They tasted GREAT!!!! I decorated them with sugar sprinkles and put jelly beans and robin eggs in each basket. They were really cute.
This was a fun recipe to make. I set out the butter to soften and then I microwaved the marshmallows 10 seconds at a time, stirring in between. I mixed in the butter when there were just a few marshmallow lumps left and microwaved again until smooth then combined again thoroughly. I added precrushed noodles as recommended. It does help to put butter on your fingertips before each handful of mixture! I don't like colored licorice, so I fashioned handles out of the mixture too. Just made arches that reached across and laid them flat to set. After 2 hours in the fridge I stuck them on the baskets they're firm, but still sticky and you can firmly smush them in place and secured further with melted chocolate around the junctions. Next time I might make little tiny chocolate bows or butterflies as decorations with candy molds and attach w/ melted chocolate. One batch yielded 7 baskets w/handles. Pretty, fun and easy!
I too had difficulty with the handles so I cut the licorice in half lenghtwise this made it easier to handle. I wish I would have read the reviews first and I would have crushed the noodles. My daughter & I had fun making and decorating.....worth it.
These are super cute! The easiest way for me was to break up the noodles a bit then on a buttered surface and buttered fingers, flatten to the size of a large patty then put it into the muffin tin. This made it easier to shape and put the licorice handles on.
I too decided to make nests out of these instead of the baskets. my grandchildren helped and it was just easier for them. i do have one suggestion...instead of using the butter on my fingers to form...i used cold water! works much much better!!!
These were fun to make, but extremely messy and sticky. It was a little difficult to form the basket. The decorating was very easy and fun for the kids to do. Overall they turned out cute, but just too messy to do again.
What a wonderful recipe! I am always looking for new and unique recipes for spring. May I suggest adding the following to the instructions: 1. "Divide mixture evenly among 12 muffin cups," and 2. Immediately and "firmly" press licorice . . . Each year I bake the traditional pound cake Easter lamb for dessert. This year it will be circled by these yummy spring basket!
I, too, doubled the recipe and got about 15. Everyone's right when they say to break up the noodles. I thought I did, but not enough, it was still awkward. I also decided to add a little flavor and threw a handfull of butterscotch morsels in with the butter and marshmallows. Luckily I decided early on not to try to make baskets out of the mixture; I went for bird's nests. I did a little colored coconut in each, put two minieggs, and placed a Peep on top. Really cute!
It was difficult to work with such hot marshmellow/noodle mix. The licorace handles never stood straight. Glad I tried them before Easter. Not worth the time and effort. They looked so cute in the picture!
I found it very difficult to work with the noodles as they were very hot, also I think it would be a good idea if the noodles were broken in half, much easier to press down into cup cake tins. They were fun for my grandchildren to fill.
This is a recipe that I am glad I did a dry run on before I brought it to an Easter Party. I had a difficult time melting the butter and marshmallows - mine just kept coming out in one big clump & man was it hot and hard to work with. I will be trying again tomorrow and will see what my 3rd attempt will bring. Plus, I thought the muffin cups were supposed to be mini, not full size. My error.Last - does anyone have a recipe that substitutes oatmeal for the noodles? Might be easier for me. Thanks much!
We used the rice krispie treat recipe for this with kids under 10 years old. They LOVED making the baskets and filling each one with different candies. We plan to do this again and use the baskets as place cards for our Easter Sunday Dinner.
After reading reviews, I doubled the recipe. Yield was 12 nice-size baskets in the muffin tin. I used leftovers to mold into an 8-inch shallow glass bowl, to decorate as a centerpiece. Stick a knife or fork into one side of the basket to remove easily, without damaging. Great for children!
I made these for my bridge club girlfriends.They were a huge success and everyone wanted the recipe. I found in preparing the 5" handles, it worked best to taper each end of the licorice into a point.Mare
I will never attempt this recipe again. I was completely frustrated with it. It was way to sticky even with butter on your hands. You could not form them very good in the muffin pan either. Maybe would work better with rice krispies. This recipe made me very frustrated.
It was difficult to get the noodles into the muffins tins and almost impossible to get the licorice to stay put. Not sure it was worth the effort.
These little baskets made a big hit! I took them to work and 24 baskets were gone in one day. The only thing I would add is to break the noodles up into samller pieces, you can shape into baskets easier. I melted Land O Lakes butter in the micro in a small bowl and dipped my fingers in it for each basket. Another hint, when you print out the recipe, cut a picture of each dish etc. so you know what it is suppose to look like. Thank you Land O Lakes for the GREAT recipes, I have a binder full!
If you have the patience they are so cute and yummy. I made a double batch and ended up with about 15. The handles are tough to place and seem a bit bulky for the basket itself. This also works with a few varieties of bran cereals. The kids loved this project and the result is adorable!
Before you mix the chow mein noodles into the marshmallow, lightly break-up the noodles. This allows you to press the mixture in the muffin pans more easily.
These turned out so cute and tasted great. My grandchildre and adult children loved them. Since I was shipping them ,I did not put the handles on. They packed easier that way. I used melted white chocolate chips instead of almond bark.
I tried these with some caramel and vanilla flavored marshmallows. They taste really good. I didn't have enough of the mixture to go up over the top of the muffin tin. I used a small metal cup that I sprayed to smash down the mixture and form the basket. I'm wondering if a mini-muffin tin would work better. I am bringing them to a bake sale. I'm hoping they will be a big hit due to their cuteness! :
The idea is great. The actual assembling I found a bit difficult. I doubled the recipe to make 24 baskets, but was barely able to make 16. I found it a little tricky and time consuming, also had to repeatedly apply more and more butter to my fingers0, but was well worth it for the end result. My children love them and they are so cute and delicious. I would definetly make these again and let my kids do the messy parts :
I made these with my 7 year old grandson and they were very easy and he had a blast!!!
you could also coated the basket top with melted chocolate .
This recipe looks like it would be a big hit with all of my Grandchildren. They are getting very interested in cooking and baking.

I definitely could not get the noodles to form as nicely as in the photos. There weren't enough noodles to go around to make them go all the way up the muffin cup and over the sides a bit. Mine ended up looking more like little birds' nests than baskets. The handles would not stick very well. I think it would be easier to do this recipe with the skinny chow mein noodles rather than the regular. Also would taste good if you could add butterscotch chips to melted mix but that might change its ability to form into muffin cup??
