Ingredients

Filling

3 1/2 cups frozen, pitted sweet cherries, thawed, reserve juices

1/2 cup sugar

3 tablespoons corn starch

Batter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons cold Land O Lakes® Butter, cut into small pieces

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup milk

1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Topping

1/4 cup sliced almonds

Sanding sugar, if desired

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 8-inch square baking dish with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

  2. STEP 2

Place thawed cherries and juices in 3-quart saucepan. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and corn starch in bowl; stir into cherries. Bring to a simmer over medium heat; cook 3-5 minutes or until juices are thickened.

  3. STEP 3

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Cut in butter, using pastry blender or two forks, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 1/2 cup sugar, sour cream, milk and almond extract; stir until well combined.

  4. STEP 4

Pour hot cherry mixture into prepared baking dish. Dollop tablespoons of batter over hot filling. Bake 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown.

  5. STEP 5

Sprinkle almonds and sanding sugar, if desired, over cobbler. Continue baking 7-11 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
