Ingredients

Cake

(3/4 Cup)
sugar
(3/4 Cup)
firmly packed brown sugar
(1/2 Cup)
@LAND O LAKES® Butter@, softened
(2 1/4 Cups)
all-purpose flour
(1 Cup)
buttermilk*
(2)
eggs
(2 Teaspoons)
baking soda
(1 Teaspoon)
ground cinnamon
(1 Teaspoon)
ground nutmeg
(1/2 Teaspoon)
salt

medium (1 1/2 cups) tart cooking apples, peeled, chopped

Topping

(1/2 Cup)
chopped salted peanuts
(1/4 Cup)
sugar
(1/4 Cup)
firmly packed brown sugar
(1/2 Teaspoon)
ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Combine sugar, brown sugar and butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add all remaining cake ingredients except apples. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in apples by hand. Pour into greased and floured 13x9-inch baking pan.
  2. Stir together all topping ingredients in small bowl. Sprinkle over cake batter. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  3. *Substitute 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice plus enough milk to equal 1 cup. Let stand 10 minutes.
