Edible serving dishes are the perfect way to incorporate food into every part of a recipe. It is a simple way to add some interest to the presentation and some extra flavor to otherwise ordinary food.

Apples – It’s autumn, and apples are available in abundance. While they’re delicious in their true state or baked in a pie, they also can be a tasty vessel for serving other foods. Simply slice off the top of the apple, hollow it out with a melon baller, and use the shell to create a caramel apple sundae, as a small bowl for caramel sauce…

or as a mug to serve hot apple cider.

Bread Bowls – A classic for a reason, bread bowls are the perfect venue for a variety of things, including dips, soups and chili. Try our Harvest Beer Cheese Soup in a bread bowl for a fall dinner idea.

These other flavorful soups are tempting in a bread bowl, as well: Chunky Tomato Basil SoupBroccoli & Cheese Soup or Chicken & Sweet Potato Chowder.

Parmesan Cheese Cups – Create a fancy look with minimal effort…who doesn’t want that?! Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Evenly spread 1/3 cup of grated parmesan cheese onto a parchment-lined baking sheet so it forms about a 6-inch circle. Bake for 3-5 minutes until cheese is browned and melted. Using a thin, metal spatula, carefully place the cheese into custard cups or small bowls, and gently form the cheese in the cup. Let cool before removing. Voila!

Fill with salad – Caesar is delicious – or fruit. No worries if a bowl breaks; just use the crumbles to top the salad!

Pumpkins – While you don’t want to actually eat this last serving dish, it does make an impressive addition to your fall table setting or Halloween party. Here’s a great recipe for Witch’s Brew Pumpkin Bowl; just be sure to put a glass bowl in the pumpkin first.
