Whether you’re making plans to host your own version of the Winter Games at a nearby sledding hill, or you’re hosting a party to watch the games from the comfort of your living room, here’s a clever idea to add fun to the party. Serve cookies from different countries and then give gold, silver and bronze “medals” for the top favorites.

You can use our Best Ever Butter Cookies recipe to make your Winter Games “medals.”  Then make these international cookies and let your judges award their gold, silver and bronze favorites!

Chinese Almond Cookies – These light, tender cookies are studded with a blanched almond and would be a great finish to a fresh stir-fry dinner.

Italian Nut Gems – These chewy, nutty confections are reminiscent of a classic Italian dessert cake called “panforte”.

Linzer Strips – These are similar to the famous “Linzertorte” from Austria, but in easy cookie form. It’s reminiscent of a shortbread cookie with a light raspberry spread and sprinkle of almonds.

English Almond Tea Cakes – These little gems are for chocolate lovers: a fudgy chocolate cookie with a chocolate glaze.

Chai Cookies – Roadside tea merchants in India, called Chai Wallahs, served a delicious combination of strong tea, exotic spices and warm milk. Those same flavors are in these cookies.

Enjoy a world of tastes while you enjoy the Winter Games.  Let us know which ones were the medal winners for you!
