Heart-Shaped Cookie

Have Valentine’s Day Fun With Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutters

Valentine’s Day is the perfect chance to show your kids a little extra love and give them a heart-filled day. Heart-shaped cookie cutters were my go-to when planning how to infuse Valentine’s Day into every meal. They are a simple way to make the day special without adding too much extra work to my already-full plate.

Breakfast

Use a pastry bag with a 1/4-inch plain tip, or a resealable plastic bag with one corner snipped off, to pipe heart-shaped pancakes onto a hot griddle. Serve with strawberries and whipped cream. Or try French Toast with Strawberry Butter. You can even make toast – cut toasted bread with the cookie cutter and topped with cinnamon sugar butter, peanut butter, or my favorite – butter and jelly. Cutting the bread into a heart shape is a simple way to bring the holiday to breakfast.

Lunch

Use heart-shaped cookie cutters of various sizes to fill their lunch boxes with hearts. Start with a larger size to cut Turkey Tortillas with Avocado Mayo into a festive shape.

Dinner

Pizza! Heart-shaped, of course. The homemade crust for Sweetheart Pizza is the perfect way to add a special touch to the meal. Customize the heart-shaped toppings to your family’s taste; just be sure to choose things easily cut with a cookie cutter.

Dessert

For dessert, bake a pan of your kids’ favorite bars and cut them into hearts for a perfect ending to the day. Try our Simple Fudgy Saucepan Brownies or Cinnamon Crispy Treats, both great options for a sweet treat. I made the variation on the Cinnamon Crispy Treats recipe to drizzle a glaze on the bars and added just a little red food coloring to turn the glaze pink.

Using a variety of heart-shaped cooking cutters is a perfect, simple way to show your kids some love this Valentine’s Day. Let us know how you celebrate with your family!
