Innovation, cooperation and serving our communities are the things that have kept our story alive since 1921. And there's no end in sight.
In 1921, we formed Minnesota Cooperative Creameries Association with the belief that we're better when we work together. Today, we're more than 1,600 dairy farmers strong.
We are driven every day to make things better. For you, for ourselves, and for the world around us.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
You may think butter has always had the creamy, farm-fresh taste you love. But back when Land O'Lakes was founded, most butter was made from sour cream and sold in tubs. Land O'Lakes was the first to make butter from fresh, sweet cream, and sell it in individually wrapped sticks. This sweet innovation not only set the standard for butter quality, but also changed America's cooking and eating habits.
LEADING THE PACK
We want you to have the freshest, most delicious butter imaginable. That's why we invented the Flavor Protect® Wrapper for our Salted and Unsalted Butter Sticks. Made from a special wax blend, the Flavor Protect® Wrapper keeps other flavors out and the rich creaminess of Land O Lakes® Butter in.
SPREADING PROGRESS
Everyone knows the joy of spreading soft, smooth butter on warm bread, fluffy pancakes or English muffins. In 2003, Land O'Lakes introduced spreadable Butter with Canola Oil, making it the first company to commercialize a spreadable butter product at national scale in the U.S. Since then, Land O'Lakes has debuted other varieties, including Cinnamon Sugar, Honey Butter, and Garlic and Herb Butter Spreads. They're always soft and spreadable, right out of the fridge.
THE LATEST AND GREATEST
Land O'Lakes is always looking for ways to make cooking more convenient for you. In 2006, we introduced Salted Butter Half Sticks. Half sticks make small-batch cooking much easier, eliminating the hassle of measuring, cutting and rewrapping butter. Half sticks first debuted as a Salted Butter, but are now available in Unsalted as well as Olive Oil & sea salt.
When it comes to giving back, we don't just talk the talk, we walk the walk. And we do a lot of walking.
