1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1 large Land O Lakes® Egg

1 tablespoon milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Frosting

2 1/4 cups powdered sugar

3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 to 2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Heavy Whipping Cream

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Green food color

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

Combine 1/2 cup butter, sugar, and egg in bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. Add milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Add flour and baking powder; beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

  3. STEP 3

Spread into bottom of ungreased 9-inch springform pan. Bake 23-26 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely.

  4. STEP 4

Combine powdered sugar, 3/4 cup butter, and 1/8 teaspoon salt in bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add whipping cream and 2 teaspoons vanilla; continue beating until smooth. Divide frosting in half. Tint one-half with 30 drops green food color. Divide remaining white frosting in half again. Tint one-half with 6 drops green food color. Leave remaining frosting white.

  5. STEP 5

Dollop white frosting into center of cookie. Dollop light green frosting around white. Dollop dark green frosting around light green. Using offset spatula, carefully spread frosting in a circular motion to create ombre pattern, wiping off spatula every time it's lifted off cookie.

  6. STEP 6

Cut cookie into 12 wedges to create Christmas trees.

Tip #1

These can easily be adapted to any occasion. Tint frosting yellow and orange to create candy corn treats or tint with your child's favorite colors to create party hats for a birthday party!
