Caramelized Orange Butter Sauce

Get started!

Ingredients

2 large oranges

10 (5 tablespoons) Land O Lakes® Butter Balls, divided

1/3 cup sugar

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Zest oranges to collect 1 tablespoon zest. Cut oranges in half.

  2. STEP 2

Melt 1 Butter Ball in 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling. Add orange halves, cut-side down; cook 2-2 1/2 minutes or until caramelized. Remove orange halves from pan; cool 5 minutes.

  3. STEP 3

Juice orange halves using reamer or handheld juicer to collect 2/3 cup juice.

  4. STEP 4

Wipe out skillet. Combine orange juice, orange zest and sugar in skillet; bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook 3-4 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly.

  5. STEP 5

Reduce heat to low. Whisk in remaining Butter Balls, 3 at a time, whisking constantly until each addition is fully incorporated before adding next. Serve immediately.

    Tip: Storage Info

Cover and refrigerate leftover sauce up to 4 days. Reheat in microwave or on stovetop until steaming.

Tip #1

Roll oranges on a work surface before zesting to extract the most juice possible.

Tip #2

Use a fork or other utensil to add the Butter Balls to the sauce to avoid warming it with your hands.

Tip #3

Serving with ice cream or whipped cream helps balance out the bittersweet flavor of this sauce.
