Ingredients

Bar Ingredients

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3 medium 3 cups apples, peeled, chopped

3/4 cup chopped pecans

Frosting Ingredients

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter

4 cups powdered sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

3 to 4 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Fat Free Half & Half

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 15x10x1-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine 1 cup butter, sugar and brown sugar in bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add all remaining bar ingredients except apples and pecans. Beat until well mixed (mixture will be very thick). Stir in apples and pecans.

  3. STEP 3

    Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake 28-33 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

  4. STEP 4

    Melt 1/2 cup butter in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring constantly and watching closely, 5-6 minutes or until butter just starts to turn golden. Remove from heat. Cool completely.

  5. STEP 5

    Combine browned butter, powdered sugar and vanilla in bowl. Beat at medium speed, gradually adding enough half & half for desired spreading consistency. Spread frosting over cooled bars.

Tip #1

Bars freeze well. Place between sheets of waxed paper in container with tight-fitting lid.
