Ingredients

12 (1/2-inch thick) slices
baguette-style French bread
2 tablespoons
Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1/2 cup
blue cheese crumbles
1 teaspoon
finely chopped fresh chives or green onions
Dash
ground red pepper
1/4 cup
finely chopped red and/or yellow bell pepper*
1 tablespoon
finely chopped fresh parsley
 
*Substitute 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts.

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. Spread 1 side of bread slices with 1 tablespoon butter. Place onto ungreased baking sheet, buttered-side up. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool slightly.
  3. Combine remaining butter, blue cheese, chives and ground red pepper in bowl; mix well.
  4. Turn bread slices over. Spread unbuttered sides evenly with blue cheese mixture; sprinkle with bell pepper. Bake 5-6 minutes or until cheese mixture begins to melt. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve warm.

Recipe Tips

For easy entertaining, prepare toasted bread slices and cheese mixture early in the day of your get-together. Store toasted bread slices in a tightly covered container at room temperature and cheese mixture covered in the refrigerator. When ready to prepare appetizers, let cheese mixture come to room temperature for easier spreading.
