Bacon, Cheese & Tomato Loaf

This yummy loaf plus a salad equals supper on the deck, porch or patio.

Ingredients

1 (1-pound) loaf garlic-buttered French bread

4 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced

1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil leaves  

10 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American chopped

6 slices crisply cooked bacon, crumbled

 

 *Substitute 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves.

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Heat bread according to package directions; split loaf lengthwise. Place loaf halves, split-side up, onto ungreased baking sheet.

  3. STEP 3

    Layer each half evenly with tomato, basil, cheese and bacon. Bake 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

The first time I made this, we enjoyed it with a veggie salad for a Sunday night supper on a warm Summer day; it was a hit with the family and leftovers were taken for lunch the next day; good hot or cold.
