I don't remember how many years ago I first saw this recipe, but I've been using it ever since. It's the only way I cook yams. I misplaced my recipe and was so glad that it was still available. I believe that the original recipe used apples and sweet potatoes cut in 3/4 inch cubes, although I cut mine into smaller cubes, about 5/8 inch. It also called for covering the pan only during the first 25 minutes of baking. Maybe that's why Kasie's turned out soggy. Mine has always turned out delicious and never soggy or bland.
Hubby loved it. Would be just as good without apples.
Bland and everything came out soggy. Won't make again.
