Cake
2/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
Frosting
1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter
3 cups powdered sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
STEP 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2 (8- or 9-inch) round cake pans; set aside.
STEP 2
Combine 2/3 cup butter and sugar in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
STEP 3
Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk, beating at low speed and scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
STEP 4
Divide batter among prepared pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.
STEP 5
Melt 1/4 cup butter in 1-quart saucepan over medium-low heat 4-5 minutes or until lightly browned.
STEP 6
Place browned butter into bowl. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often and gradually adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency.
STEP 7
Spread frosting between cooled cake layers, top and sides of cake.
Cake can be baked in 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 30-35 minutes.
