These home-baked biscuits made with cheddar cheese and basil make a tasty supper accompaniment.

Ingredients

1/3 cup
Land O Lakes® Butter
2 1/4 cups
all-purpose flour
1 cup
shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon
baking powder
1 tablespoon
sugar
1 teaspoon
dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon
salt
1 cup
milk

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. Melt butter in 8-inch square baking pan in oven. Remove from oven; set aside.
  3. Combine all remaining ingredients except milk in bowl. Stir in milk just until moistened.
  4. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface; knead 1 minute or until smooth. Pat or roll dough into 12x6-inch rectangle. Cut into 12 (1-inch) strips.
  5. Dip each strip into melted butter in pan; fold each strip in half. Return folded strips to pan, arranging in 2 rows. Bake 23-28 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

This recipe is fantastic! I substituted buttermilk for the regular milk called for in the recipe only because I love buttermilk biscuits. I made these biscuits to accompany the chili I made for lunch. My friends loved them! They got rave reviews. This recipe will go into my "make often" file.

THIS IS A RECIPE THAT WHIPS UP IN NO TIME, IS EASY TO WORK WITH AND HAS LAND O LAKES CUSTOMARY BUTTERY, LIGHT TEXTURE. I FIXED THEM FOR GUESTS AND THEY WERE GONE ALMOST BEFORE THE ENTREE WAS SERVED!
