Ingredients

2 cups
strawberry ice cream*
1/4 cup
Land O Lakes® Butter
1 cup
real semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons
milk
 
Land O Lakes® Heavy Whipping Cream, sweetened, whipped
Fresh strawberries
 
*Substitute 2 cups of your favorite flavor ice cream.

Directions

  1. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil; place into freezer 10 minutes.
  2. Scoop 6 (1/3 cup) ice cream balls; place onto prepared baking sheet. Freeze 2-3 hours or until very firm.
  3. Place butter and chocolate chips in 1-quart saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 4-5 minutes or until smooth. Stir in milk; cool to room temperature.
  4. Working quickly with 1 ice cream ball at a time, lift frozen ice cream balls from baking sheet with large spoon. Hold over melted chocolate; spoon chocolate over ice cream ball evenly coating all sides. Carefully slide ice cream ball from spoon back onto cookie sheet. Return to freezer at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.
  5. Place ice cream bon bons on individual dessert plates; garnish with whipped cream and strawberries.

Recipe Tips

- If ice cream becomes too soft while coating, return to freezer.

- Chocolate Coated Ice Cream Bon Bons can be prepared up to 7 days in advance. Cover; store frozen.

This is absolutely fantastic - I use either strawberry or vanilla ice cream - but ANY flavor would work...I might try Mint Chocolate Chip next time!! I get rave reviews and requests for this recipe - it is incredible.
