Caramelized Almonds

Caramelized almonds make a great snack or a crunchy salad topping.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter

1 cup slivered almonds

6 tablespoons sugar

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Melt butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add almonds and 4 tablespoons sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 4-5 minutes or until sugar melts and nuts are golden brown. (Watch closely to prevent burning.) Remove from heat; stir in remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.

  2. STEP 2

    Quickly spread onto waxed paper; cool completely. Break clusters of nuts into pieces. Store in container with tight-fitting lid.

Tip #1

Almonds brown quickly even after cooking if left in skillet. Therefore, it is important to cool them immediately on waxed paper.

So simple and easy. I added cinnamon to mine. I used whole almonds instead of slivered. Will be good snack, add to popcorn and for salads. Easy enough to make a big batch to divide and give as gifts, especially Christmas when many homemade items are made and given.

Best recipe and SO SIMPLE. I put these in salads, Waldorf included. My family likes them better than walnuts. Yum... !
