Caramelized Apple & Bleu Cheese Spread

This easy dip has a gourmet appeal with caramelized onions and apples!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® European Style Butter

1 medium (1 cup) apple, finely chopped

1 small (1/2 cup) white onion, finely chopped

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

2 ounces bleu cheese crumbles

 

Crackers

Assorted fresh vegetables, such as carrot sticks, cauliflower florets and/or red bell pepper strips

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Melt butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat until sizzling. Add apple, onion, salt and pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, 10-15 minutes or until onions are golden and caramelized. Place mixture into bowl; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine cream cheese and sour cream in another bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth. Add bleu cheese and apple-onion mixture; mix well. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

  3. STEP 3

    Allow spread to come to room temperature prior to serving. Serve with crackers or assorted vegetables.

Hi Mary, you could swap out salted or unsalted butter for the European Style if you would like. We tested and developed this recipe with European Style Butter for its creamy texture and rich taste, but you could swap it out if all you have is salted or unsalted butter on hand.
