I love this mug cake! This is always what I make when I do not want chocolate. It is perfect!

I like this, however it tastes much better if you replace the nutmeg with cinnamon sugar.

Hi Kimorah! Unfortunately we have not tested this recipe with an egg substitute, so we can't say for certain if it would work. If you do decide to try a substitute, please let us know how it works out for you!

Could you make this without eggs? I'm allergic to egg, milk and peanuts and I wanted to know if there was a way I could replace the egg yolk. Please and thank you!

I just made this recipe, it was ok. I think next time I will use half the nutmeg, it was a little too strong of a flavor for me. The texture was fluffy and slightly spongy, really not a bad texture! It seemed a teeny bit dry but that could just be from microwave differences. Overall a pretty decent mug cake, I will probably try again with a few tweaks for my preferences.

I only had self-raising flour on hand, so I used that and just left out the baking powder. I also used vanilla sugar instead of sugar and nutmeg. It came up really yummy. Texture was ever so slightly a little dry and crumbly, but tasted just like a doughnut. Thanks! :)

I made this and it was actually quite crumbly. It still tasted very good and was a hit with kids.

its alright I used a little bit of coffee creamer with the milk I think it would be better with a different topping though like a glaze or powdered sugar

When I made this I accidentally left out the egg but it still tasted great! Its a little dry but still yummy.

So simple and easy to make! Next time I'll add some vanilla extract and omit the egg yolk for some oil (as it smelt a bit eggy) but a lovely dessert or midnight snack!

I just made this recipe. I had to use margarine as I didn't have butter on hand. I also substituted pumpkin pie spice for the nutmeg and I rolled it in a little bit of margarine then a little plain sugar and it was absolutely delicious! I had been making chocolate mug cakes for awhile now and just could not stand another! This will by my favorite mug cake for a long time to come! I will use butter next time and cook it for 60 secs only (I did 90 and it was a little overdone but still good and fluffy!).

Pamela - Thanks for the information about how you modified it to be GF.

I made this recipe and modified it to be gluten free and it was so easy and a BIG hit with the family. To make GF, substitute the flour for the Land 'O Lakes GF flour blend and add 1/4 tsp xanthum gum to the mix and cook for 60-75 seconds in the microwave. This was great!
