1/2 cup chopped apple
1 (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple, well-drained
1 (6-ounce) can white tuna in water, drained
2 ounces (1/2 cup) shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
4 French rolls, split
4 lettuce leaves
Combine all ingredients except rolls and lettuce leaves in medium bowl; mix lightly.
To assemble each sandwich, line bottom half of each roll with lettuce leaf. Spread with 1/4 tuna mixture; top with bun top.

I have made tuna salad in the past with chopped apples. This recipe with the pineapple and almonds added, gives it a completely new twist. My family enjoyed it and I have made it several times.
I never would have thought to add crushed pineapple to tuna but it did appeal to me. I didn't add the apple. I made this a few years ago and haven't done so since, but it's possible the mood will strike again! Give it a try.
