5 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 medium (1 cup) onion, thinly sliced, separated into rings
1 medium (1 cup) red bell pepper, cut into thin julienne strips
1 medium (1 cup) yellow bell pepper, cut into thin julienne strips
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
12 (1-inch) diagonal slices French bread
3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Heat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add garlic powder, onion and peppers. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 3-5 minutes or until crisply tender. Stir in basil.
Spread cut-sides of bread slices lightly with remaining butter. Place onto grill, butter-side down. Grill until lightly toasted. Turn bread slices over. Divide pepper mixture evenly among toasted bread; sprinkle each with 1 tablespoon cheese. Continue grilling until other side is toasted and cheese is bubbly.
