(1 Cup)
(1 Cup)
@Land O Lakes® Butter@ (no substitutions)
(1 Cup)
real semi-sweet chocolate chips
(1/4 Cup)
finely chopped pecans

  1. Combine sugar and butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until candy thermometer reaches 300°F. or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms brittle strands (25 to 30 minutes).
  2. Quickly spread into 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy; let stand 5 minutes. Spread melted chocolate evenly over candy; sprinkle with pecans. Cool completely; break into pieces.

Recipe Tips

- Stir occasionally and gently with a wooden spoon until mixture reaches 260 to 265°F. (127 to 130°C). Continue cooking, stirring as few times as possible, until mixture reaches 300°F. (149°C). Stirring too much contributes to toffee separating. It is important to keep the mixture from burning, so stir gently once in a while.

- Store butter toffee in an container with tight-fitting lid in a cool, dry place. Do not refrigerate.

I mistakenly left a review for Best ever butter toffee. This is the recipe I have been making for years and get rave reviews on! It barely lasts long enough to cool and break into pieces. This is one of the easiest and best recipes for candy I have ever made!

One of the absolute best. Men especially love this candy. I think it's because of the wonderful buttery taste it leaves in your mouth.

Hot sugar is never extra easy to work with, but this recipe came together quickly and disappeared just as fast!

This was my first attempt to ever make any sort of candy. I think it turned out great and my coworkers loved it. I used a candy thermometer and followed the directions. When I poured the toffee into the cookie sheet, there was excess butter. I don't know if I didn't stir it enough. Next time I make this, I will use a smaller pan. Overall great recipe and experience.

this recipe was easy to make and it was very good! I had to make another batch after the first because we ate it all!

I ran out of Land o lakes butter and used another brand... Don't do it!!! it only works with Land o Lakes! It's a crowd pleaser!!!!!

I make a big batch for work & leave a little home... They love it...only 1 co-worker lost a filling...oops

I make this every year for Christmas and get requests to make it. It is so easy

Super easy and makes a great addition to a holiday treat gift.
