Ingredients

Bar

3/4 cup
sugar
3/4 cup
sour cream
1/2 cup
Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1 1/2 cups
all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons
orange juice
1 teaspoon
vanilla
1/2 teaspoon
baking soda
1/2 teaspoon
salt

Frosting

3 cups
powdered sugar
1/3 cup
Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2 to 3 tablespoons
orange juice
1 tablespoon
freshly grated orange zest, if desired

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. Combine sugar, sour cream and 1/2 cup butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add all remaining bar ingredients; continue beating until well mixed.
  3. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 17-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  4. Combine powdered sugar and 1/3 cup butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Continue beating, gradually adding enough orange juice for desired frosting consistency.
  5. Spread frosting over cooled bars. Sprinkle with orange zest, if desired. Cut into bars.

If I make this again I would definitely add orange zest both to the batter and to the frosting. It didn't have enough orange taste for my liking.

So yummy!I love making cookie bars because they are so simple. While I like them without the frosting, I like them even better with the frosting, and always use the orange rind for extra flavor.
