Open Faced Savory Jam Sandwiches

Apricot Onion Jam

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® European Style Butter

1 large (1 1/2 cups) yellow onion, chopped

1/2 cup chopped dried apricots

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

1/4 teaspoon salt


1 (1-pound) package sliced cocktail bread, each sliced in half diagonally

4 tablespoons Land O Lakes® European Style Butter

12 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American, quartered diagonally


Chopped dried apricots, if desired

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Melt 2 tablespoons butter in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Add onions; cook 3-5 minutes or until slightly softened. Add 1/2 cup chopped apricots, brown sugar, honey and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, 15-20 minutes or until almost all liquid is evaporated and jam is slightly thickened. Remove from heat; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    Spread 1/4 teaspoon butter onto each bread piece. Layer each with 1 piece cheese and 1 teaspoon jam. Garnish with chopped dried apricots, if desired.
