Total Time

1 1/4 cups sugar

3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup buttermilk

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon Land O Lakes® Butter

2 to 3 tablespoons milk

Mini chocolate chips, if desired

*Substitute 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice and enough milk to equal 1 cup. Let stand 5 minutes.

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Heat oven to 350°F. Line 15x10x1-inch baking pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil, extending foil over edges. Spray foil with no-stick cooking spray.

  2. STEP 2

Combine sugar, 3/4 cup butter and cocoa in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 5-8 minutes or until melted.

  3. STEP 3

Remove from heat. Cool 5 minutes. Add 1 egg at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla, baking powder and baking soda; mix well. Alternately add flour and buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.

  4. STEP 4

Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 20-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

  5. STEP 5

Lift brownies out of pan using foil. Cut brownies with 2 1/2- to 3-inch bear cookie cutter.

  6. STEP 6

Combine powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon butter and enough milk for desired glazing consistency in bowl. Glaze top of cut-out brownies. Garnish with chocolate chip for eye, if desired.
