From the Test Kitchens... We re-tested this recipe and evaluated the root beer flavor. We felt there is enough root beer flavor in the cupcake. The addition of the crushed root beer candies on top adds to the flavor.

I was very disappointed with this recipe. There was no root beer flavor to them at all and I used a good quality root beer as well. I even substituted one Tablespoon of root beer for milk in the frosting and even that didn't help. Of all the Land O Lake recipes I have made this one was a big disappointment. A shame because every other Land O Lakes recipe I have made we have loved. I will probably will not make these again.
