Ingredients

Meat Sauce

2 (12-ounces) packages
bulk pork sausage
1 medium (1/2 cup)
onion, chopped
1 (15-ounce) can
tomato sauce
1 (12-ounce) can
tomato paste
2 tablespoons
dried parsley flakes
1 tablespoon
dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon
salt
1/2 teaspoon
garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon
pepper

Filling

2 (12-ounce) cartons (3 cups)
small curd cottage cheese
1
large Land O Lakes® Egg
2 tablespoons
dried parsley flakes

uncooked dried lasagna noodles, cooked, drained
10 (3/4-ounce) slices
Land O Lakes® Provolone Cheese, cut in half
1/4 cup
grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350° F.
  2. Cook sausage and onion in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sausage is browned. Drain. Add all remaining meat sauce ingredients.
  3. Combine cottage cheese, egg and parsley in bowl. Spread 1 3/4 cups meat mixture into 13x9-inch greased baking pan. Layer with 3 lasagna noodles, 1 cup cottage cheese mixture and 6 pieces provolone cheese. Repeat layers, placing remaining provolone cheese on top layer; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake 55-65 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned and lasagna is heated through. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Recipe Tips

- Pork sausage can also be purchased in links or rings. Remove casings before browning the sausage.

- To make ahead and bake later, prepare lasagna as directed above. Cover; refrigerate up to 2 days. Heat oven to 350°F. Uncover; bake 60-70 minutes or until lasagna is heated through.

- To make ahead and freeze for later, prepare as directed above. Cover with aluminum foil; freeze. To bake, remove from freezer; refrigerate for at least 24 hours or until lasagna is thawed. Heat oven to 350°F. Uncover; bake 60-70 minutes or until lasagna is heated through.

We liked this recipe more than the traditional lasagna recipe using ground steak. i used sweet and mild Italian sausage. It's a keeper !

I used hamburger with this recipe instead of sausage it was wonderful my husband loved it. He always said he did not like lasagna until I prepared this receipe thumbs up!
