1 (14-ounce) package caramels, unwrapped
1 tablespoon water
20 (7- to 8-inch) pretzel rods
10 ounces chocolate candy coating
Decorator candies and/or sprinkles
*Substitute 1 1/2 cups real semi-sweet chocolate chips plus 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening.
Spray waxed paper-covered baking sheet with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Combine caramels and water in bowl. Microwave, stirring after each minute, 2-2 1/2 minutes or until smooth.
Dip each pretzel rod into melted caramel. Spread caramel onto about 2/3 of pretzel with spatula. Let excess drip from pretzel. Place onto prepared waxed paper until set. Refrigerate rods while preparing chocolate coating.
Place chocolate candy coating into 2-cup glass measuring cup. Microwave, stirring after each minute, 1 1/2-2 minutes or until coating is melted.
Press caramel mixture evenly and smoothly around pretzels; dip into chocolate, using spatula to spread chocolate, if necessary. Place onto waxed paper; decorate with candies or sprinkles. Refrigerate until set.
