A real Halloween favorite of young and old!

1 (14-ounce) package caramels, unwrapped
1 tablespoon water
20 (7- to 8-inch) pretzel rods
10 ounces chocolate candy coating
Decorator candies and/or sprinkles
*Substitute 1 1/2 cups real semi-sweet chocolate chips plus 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening.
Spray waxed paper-covered baking sheet with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Combine caramels and water in bowl. Microwave, stirring after each minute, 2-2 1/2 minutes or until smooth.
Dip each pretzel rod into melted caramel. Spread caramel onto about 2/3 of pretzel with spatula. Let excess drip from pretzel. Place onto prepared waxed paper until set. Refrigerate rods while preparing chocolate coating.
Place chocolate candy coating into 2-cup glass measuring cup. Microwave, stirring after each minute, 1 1/2-2 minutes or until coating is melted.
Press caramel mixture evenly and smoothly around pretzels; dip into chocolate, using spatula to spread chocolate, if necessary. Place onto waxed paper; decorate with candies or sprinkles. Refrigerate until set.

I've made these delicious treats 3 times and am making them again for Christmas! One tip, though, is to use a pastry brush to paint on the chocolate...dipping the caramel coated rods into chocolate melts the caramel...I'm making some with white chocolate and chopped peppermint bark for the holidays. They taste fabulous and are such a great party hit!
These are FANTASTIC and really easy to make. My whole family just loved them the first time I made them, so whenever we have a family party - I bring these along.
