Ingredients

Crust

3/4 cup
Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
1/2 cup
sugar
1 2/3 cups
all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons
milk

Filling

3/4 cup
powdered sugar
1 (8-ounce) package
cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon
orange juice
1 teaspoon
freshly grated orange zest

Topping

1 pint (2 cups)
strawberries, hulled, halved
1/2 cup
fresh blueberries*
1/4 cup
apple jelly, melted
 
*Substitute 2 1/2 cups of your favorite fruit (kiwifruit, mandarin orange segments, pineapple, etc.) arranged in any design.

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. Combine butter and sugar in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add flour and milk; beat at low speed until well mixed.
  3. Press dough onto bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Prick bottom with fork. Bake 14-18 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.
  4. Combine all filling ingredients in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Spread over top of cooled crust. Cover; refrigerate 1-2 hours or until firm.
  5. Arrange fruit on filling in design of American flag just before serving, using strawberry halves for stripes and blueberries for stars. Brush fruit and filling with apple jelly.

This kind of sweets is enjoyed by children a lot. Moreover, it can be served in parties as its presentation is astounding. I was thinking to use chocolate balls instead of blueberries.
