Learn How it Works...
4 medium tomatoes
5 teaspoons balsamic glaze
20 fresh basil leaves
8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Italian Blend, cut in half diagonally
STEP 1
Cut thin slice off top and bottom of each tomato; cut each tomato into 5 slices horizontally.
STEP 2
For each tomato stack, drizzle 1/4 teaspoon balsamic glaze onto bottom slice of tomato; top with 1 piece cheese and 1 basil leaf. Repeat layers 3 times, using 1 tomato for each stack. Place last tomato slice on top. Place 1 basil leaf over tomato slice; drizzle with remaining balsamic glaze.
If balsamic glaze is not available at your supermarket, combine 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar and 2 teaspoons sugar in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook until liquid is reduced by 1/4. Store refrigerated for up to 1 week.
