Ingredients

Filling

4 medium (4 cups) pears, cored, peeled, sliced 1/2-inch

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Topping

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup uncooked quick-cooking oats

1/2 cup finely chopped brown sugar

1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

Land O Lakes® Heavy Whipping Cream, if desired

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 375°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Place pears into ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine flour, oats, brown sugar and butter in bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over pears.

  4. STEP 4

    Bake 40-50 minutes or until pears are fork tender and top is golden brown.

  5. STEP 5

    Spoon mixture into serving dishes. Top with whipping cream, if desired.

I used 1/4 tsp. ginger powder instead of nutmeg, and gently tossed the sliced pears, lemon juice, and spices before adding the topping. I used dark brown sugar and baked it for 50 minutes. It's wonderful! It has just the right amount of added sugar - not too sweet.
