Ingredients

Chocolate Mixture

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Heavy Whipping Cream

1 Half Stick (1/4 cup) Land O Lakes® Butter

2 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped

1 teaspoon vanilla

Pretzels

24 (7-inch) thick pretzel rods

Coating

6 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating, chopped

Brown decorator jimmies

24 whole almonds

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Place large sheet of aluminum foil onto flat surface. Butter foil or spray with no-stick cooking spray.

  2. STEP 2

Combine sugar, corn syrup, whipping cream and butter in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 4-6 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 20-25 minutes or until candy thermometer reaches 240°F or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms a soft pliable ball.

  3. STEP 3

Remove from heat. Add baking chocolate and vanilla; stir until chocolate is melted.

  4. STEP 4

Pour chocolate mixture into 2-cup glass measuring cup or bowl. Dip each pretzel rod 2/3 into mixture, spreading chocolate to cover. Let excess drip back into cup. Place pretzels onto prepared foil, rotating if desired, for an even coating. Let stand until set.

  5. STEP 5

Place candy coating in bowl. Microwave 1 minute; stir. Continue microwaving, stirring every 15 seconds, 1-2 minutes or until melted.

  6. STEP 6

Work with 1 pretzel at a time. Using fork, drizzle melted candy coating over chocolate. Immediately sprinkle with brown decorator jimmies. Dip end of 1 almond in melted coating; place on top of pretzel. Stand pretzel up in short glass or place onto foil. Repeat with remaining pretzels; let stand until coating is set.
