Cheesy Tomato Basil Chicken Breasts

3 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter

1/3 cup chopped onion

1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste

2 medium (2 cups) tomatoes, cubed 1-inch

1 tablespoon dried basil leaves

2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh garlic

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper


6 (6-ounce) boneless skinless chicken breasts


6 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Provolone Cheese

3/4 cup fresh bread crumbs

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, melted

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Melt 3 tablespoons butter in 13x9-inch baking pan in oven.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine all remaining sauce ingredients in bowl; set aside. Place chicken into baking pan, turning to coat with butter. Spoon sauce mixture over chicken. Bake 30-40 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.

  4. STEP 4

    Combine bread crumbs, parsley and butter in bowl.

  5. STEP 5

    Lay 3 strips cheese over each chicken breast; sprinkle with bread crumb mixture. Continue baking 5-10 minutes or until internal temperature of chicken reaches at least 165°F and juices run clear when pierced with a fork and bread crumbs are browned.
