Caprese Grilled Cheese Sandwich

1 (15-ounce) loaf French bread, unsliced

1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt

12 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Italian Blend, cut in half

3 Roma tomatoes, sliced

16 large fresh basil leaves

2 teaspoons balsamic reduction

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat nonstick griddle to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Slice French bread on angle for 8 (8-inch-long) slices, each about 1/4 inch thick. Spread 1/2 tablespoon Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt onto 1 side of each bread slice.

  3. STEP 3

    Top 4 slices bread, buttered-side down, with 3 half-slices cheese, one-fourth of tomatoes, 4 basil leaves, 1/2 teaspoon balsamic reduction, 3 half-slices cheese and 1 slice bread, buttered-side up.

  4. STEP 4

    Place sandwiches onto griddle. Cook 8-10 minutes, turning once, until golden brown. Serve hot.

Tip #1

Lay sliced tomatoes onto paper towel-lined plate before assembling sandwiches to remove some of the moisture.
