Loaded Mashed Potatoes

2 pounds (about 2 to 3 large) russet potatoes, peeled, cut into eighths

1 tablespoon salt

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter

1/2 cup sliced green onions

1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic

1/2 cup milk

3 to 4 strips (1/3 cup) cooked bacon, chopped

1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Place potatoes in 3-quart saucepan. Add water to cover; bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. STEP 2

    Reduce heat to medium. Add 1 tablespoon salt; cook 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Drain.

  3. STEP 3

    Melt butter in same saucepan over medium heat until sizzling. Add green onions and garlic; cook 2-3 minutes or until slightly softened.

  4. STEP 4

    Add drained potatoes and 1/2 cup milk; mash until smooth. Stir in bacon and cheese.

Tip #1

- If potatoes are too dry, add up to an additional 1/4 cup milk to reach desired consistency.

Tip #2

- Mix in sour cream as desired to make these mashed potatoes even creamier and loaded with flavor.
