Orange Sour Cream Poppy Seed Cake

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon poppy seed

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/4 cup light sour cream

2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest

1/4 cup orange juice


6 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 tablespoon orange juice

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine flour, poppy seed, baking soda, baking powder and salt in bowl; set aside.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine sugar and butter in another bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add sour cream, eggs and orange zest. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Beat at low speed, gradually adding flour mixture alternately with orange juice and scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

  4. STEP 4

    Spread into prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  5. STEP 5

    Stir together all glaze ingredients in bowl; drizzle over warm cake. Serve warm or cool.
