Compound Butter Combos

I recently bought 8 pounds of butter at our company store. Believe it or not, this is normal behavior for me. I use it fairly quickly, but I thought I should maybe mix it up a little bit – you can only make cookies and popcorn so often. So, I took to the kitchen determined to find something fun to do with my butter. Lately, I’ve seen a lot of pins and Instagram posts about compound butters. Since it’s grilling season, I’m always tempted to dress up my steak somehow. And of course, with steak, we always have corn. So, I went there, too. Plus, brunch is always a great place to use flavored butter. Read on to find my 4 favorites.

Steak – Top your steak like they do at steak houses!

Start with ½ cup (1 stick) of butter and add 2 tablespoons Blue Cheese crumbles + 1 teaspoon Soy Sauce + 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard + ½ teaspoon finely chopped garlic

Corn – A twist on the classic Mexican street corn, Elotes

Start with ½ cup (1 stick) of butter and add 1 tablespoon chopped Cilantro + 1 teaspoon chopped Chipotle chiles in adobo sauce+ 1 tablespoon crumbled Queso Fresco + ¼ teaspoon Lime zest

Popovers – your best bet for brunch

Start with ½ cup (1 stick) of butter and add ¼ cup mashed Strawberry + 2 tablespoon Honey + ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract


Muffins – who doesn’t love fresh blueberry muffins right out of the oven?
Start with ½ cup (1 stick) of butter and add 1 teaspoon lemon zest + 1 tablespoon lemon juice + ½ teaspoon finely chopped thyme
