  • How long can I use the eggs after the BEST BY date?

We recommend that the LAND O LAKES® Eggs be used by BEST BY date on the carton to ensure quality. However, if the eggs have been purchased before the BEST By and are stored properly, they may be safely used for three weeks from the date of purchase. Any egg that looks unusual or has an off-odor should not be used. This determination is up to each individual consumer.

  • What’s the best way to hard-cook eggs?

    • Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Add enough water to come at least 1 inch above the eggs.
    • Cover and quickly bring just to boiling. Turn off heat. If necessary, remove the pan from the burner to prevent further boiling.
Let the eggs stand, covered, in the hot water about 15 minutes for large eggs (about 12 minutes for medium, about 18 for extra-large).
    • Immediately run cold water over the eggs or place them in ice water until they’re completely cooled.
    • Use within one week.
Note: Unfortunately, it’s almost impossible to cook eggs to this stage at altitudes above 10,000 feet.

  • Are Land O Lakes Eggs Kosher?

Yes. All Land O Lakes® Brown Eggs have been certified as Kosher by the Orthodox Union, and all plants where Land O Lakes® Eggs are packaged have been inspected and approved by the Orthodox Union.

  • Are Land O Lakes Eggs pasteurized?

The shell eggs are not pasteurized.

  • Is the egg carton recyclable?

All Land O Lakes® Eggs are packed in recycled plastic cartons that offer excellent protection, make it easier for consumers to inspect our eggs, and are environmentally friendly, with a lower carbon footprint than recycled molded pulp cartons used by most generic eggs. Our cartons are made entirely from 100% recycled materials. Each Land O Lakes® Eggs carton is labeled with the #1 recycling code, and may be recycled where available.

  • What is the difference between the brown eggs vs the white eggs?

The difference between brown- and white-shelled eggs is the breed of hen. Breeds with white earlobes lay white eggs, while breeds with red earlobes lay brown eggs. Both white and brown eggs have the same nutritional qualities.

  • Where is the BEST BY date located on your egg packaging?

The BEST BY date is stamped on the short end of the carton.
